WWII in the Pacific
With a partner, create a Museum/Memorial Proposal for an event that occurred in the Pacific Theater of WWII. Your project must be creative to influence and sway the Memorial Committee into voting for you.
Some events might include:
- Civilian Suicides at Saipan
- Battle of Okinawa
- Battle of Iwo Jima
- Surrender of the Japanese
- Baatan Death March
In your proposal, you must include:
- Important Chronological information - start/end dates, length of event, context of event (start, middle, end of conflict in the Pacific)
- Who was there - commanders, combatants (armies), civilian populations
- Where was this?
- Why is this important or crucial to the overall picture of WWII? What significant events happened here, what changed because of this event?
- What should the memorial include/look like?
You can produce your proposal on a large sheet of paper or a 'creative' app (like Educreations, Showme, Notability, Haikudeck, etc)
You will present your proposal to the class (informal - no set length). You have Thursday and Friday in class (as well as anything done at home) to complete the assignment - worth 25pts
